3x - 4 = - x + 2 ( add x to both sides )

4x = 6 ( divide both sides by 4 )

x = [tex]\frac{6}{4}[/tex] = 1.5

substitute x = 1.5 into either of the 2 equations and solve for y

substituting into (1)

y = - 1.5 + 2 = 0.5
