[tex]a_3=a_2+d=a_1+2d[/tex]
[tex]a_4=a_3+d=a_1+3d[/tex]
[tex]a_5=a_4+d=a_1+4d[/tex]

Since [tex]a_1=4[/tex] and [tex]d=3[/tex], the fifth term is

[tex]a_5=4+4\times3=16[/tex]
