So we want to know the number from which we take 15% and get 12. If the number we are looking for is x, then the equation to find that x would be: (15/100)*x=12 which says fifteen percent out of x is equal 12. So, x=(12*100)/15. And finally, x= 1200/15=80. So, 15% out of 80 is 12
